MIL-DTL-38999 Series III Lanyards

Our Series III lanyard release connectors are the most highly engineered connectors of their kind. The result of over 100 different IR&D iterations, this product offers low-force releases at angles and velocities in excess of D38999. In addition we offer three different shell lengths, all QPL to D38999/31 that provides you with greater store to platform clearance and flexibility.

Features

  • Foolproof connections — even in blind-mating applications
  • Three indicators confirm positive connection: sight, sound and feel
  • Unsurpassed mechanical performance under extreme conditions
  • Full 360° EMI/EMP Protection
  • Proven moisture sealing, even under water
  • Improved rear accessory interface

Shell Types

  • Lanyard plug available in Type 1 or Type 2 lanyard style construction.

Sizes & Insert Patterns

  • Size 17 thru 25 (Mil-STD E thru J) and most insert arrangements.

Shell Lengths

  • Basic = 1.450"
  • Mod-089* = 2.500"
  • Mod-091* = 1.580"
    (* /31 Type Only)

Replaceable Lanyards

  • The plug collar which attaches the lanyard to the connector is removable and allows field replacement.

Durability

  • 500 cycles of mating and unmating.

Temperature Range

  • Class F: -65°C (-85°F) to +200°C (392°F)
  • Class W: -65°C (-85°F) to + 175°C (347°F)

Vibration

Mated connectors with weights attached to simulate rear accessory loads, withstand the following vibration levels:

  • Sine vibration per MIL-STD202, Method 204, Condition G.
  • Random vibration per MIL-STD-1344, Method 2005, Condition VI. Letter "J".

Shielding Effectiveness

  • Class F: EMI Leakage attenuation, greater than 90dB at 100MHz, and greater than 65dB at 10GHz. Shell-to-Shell conductivity, 1.0 millivolt maximum voltage drop.
  • Class W: EMI Leakage attenuation, greater than 90dB at 100MHz, and greater than 50dB at 10GHz. Shell-to-Shell conductivity, 2.5 millivolt maximum voltage drop.

Corrosion Resistance

  • Class F: Withstand 48 hours salt spray.
  • Class W: Withstand 500 hours salt spray.

Fluid Immersion

  • Connectors withstand specified immersions in various fuels, solvents, coolants and oils, per MIL-STD-1344, Method 1016.
