Yukon’s diverse portfolio of Demand Response programs provides the utility the flexibility needed to build specialized programs for both residential and commercial and industrial consumers on a single platform. These choices range from directly controlling devices configured for a level of participation either by the utility or chosen by the consumer to notifying a consumer or triggering a secondary on site management system to perform the load reduction.

Yukon was designed to work inside of an existing IT structure. Cooper Power Systems can integrate and interact seamlessly with client’s network system. The Yukon platform has been deployed in instances where the redundant equipment is in a different physical location. It has been deployed using shared storage and in clustering situations. Database and configuration file backup and mirroring are the most important aspect to keeping these systems in sync. Cooper Power Systems would welcome discussions on how a client would typically deploy a system of this type to verify capability.
Yukon provides access, management, security, redundancy and scalability to support any type of pricing or demand response program and is designed for integration with utility systems. Yukon is widely used, rigorously tested, and regularly updated and it is at the core of our solution for our clients.
Yukon’s consumer portal will present to participants the programmatic information that pertains only to them. Residential participants will see program information relevant to their circumstances as will small and medium sized commercial participants.
Direct and Indirect Control
These options provide a range of load management functionality designed to save both utilities and individual ratepayers money. Demand Response can be split into two categories:
Direct Control
The Demand Response software initiates a signal designed to physically interrupt the load by:
- Cycling air conditioners
- Controlling pool and irrigation pumps
- Managing customer owned generation
Indirect Control
The Demand Response software notifies consumers of an event and where applicable the pricing and time constraints of that event. These programs typically follow two distinct paths:
- Economic events: Provide price-based curtailment that may involve some interaction through the application between the operator and consumer
- Mandatory notification events: Provide notification of the execution of pre-determined program with specific contractual limits
