Safety and Health

Cooper Industries is a diversified manufacturer of electrical components with a significant global footprint. Cooper and its employees work hard to provide a safe and healthy workplace.

Cooper's Take Charge Safety and Health Awards

Cooper has a long-established unique program, the Take Charge Safety and Health Awards, to increase the awareness and effective management of safety and health processes at all our facilities with a goal of driving to world-class safety performance.

The Take Charge Awards recognize facilities that have outstanding safety records and demonstrate creative approaches to safety leadership. The Take Charge program focuses on three key forms of measurement for each competing facility: management of safety programs , deployment of safety and health systems, and innovations that increase employee involvement and integrate safety and health programs into how they operate on a daily basis. Cooper honors these top performers annually, and provides the winners with grants they in turn share with local programs promoting community safety, such as fire prevention, emergency planning and CPR training.

The Take Charge Awards have played an important role in making Cooper's facilities among the safest in the United States. In the United States, Cooper's rate of lost time cases is consistently well below the National Bureau of Labor Statistics' average for the manufacturing sector and demonstrates year over year improvements.
