What is the difference between a “self-adjusting” ring and an “adjustable ring”?

An adjustable ring is a pre-fab assembly component that requires the installer to use tools to manually adjust the depth of the ring in relation to the drywall thickness. The Rapid Ring self-adjusting pre-fab ring is made to automatically self adjust without tools to accommodate drywall thicknesses of up to 2 inches.

Is the Rapid Ring self-adjusting pre-fab ring UL approved?

Yes. The Rapid Ring System passed all pull-out, push-in tests, grounding tests and box capacity tests, and is cULus Listed.

In the U.S., I am often challenged to specify and/or find American Made products. Is the Rapid Ring System made in the U.S.?

Yes. The Rapid Ring System is manufactured in Highland, IL, U.S.A., and suitable for Buy American Act designated projects.

While holding a Rapid Ring System I noticed that after inserting the sleeve into the box plate I could slowly “walk” the sleeve back out. Will the assembly pull out after installation?

No, the Rapid Ring System will not pull out after installation and has been certified by UL to withstand a pull-out load of 25 lbs. The Rapid Ring system was designed to ensure that the system does not disengage once installed, and while the sleeve can be removed from the box plate when handling the loose components, that is not how the system performs in a real world installation.

During the trim-out stage of an installation, it can take several minutes to get the cover plate to sit flush against the drywall. Is there a product that offers a quicker solution?

Yes. The unique design of the Rapid Ring™ System allows the contractor to install the cover plate flush with the drywall during the trim out stage in as little as 15 seconds with no tools required.

Often there can be changes to the drywall specification on the jobsite. Is there an easy way to accommodate this change without the expense of switching out the current mud ring or adjustable ring during the job?

Yes. The patent pending design of the Rapid Ring self-adjusting pre-fab ring provides a “one-size fits all” solution for varying drywall thickness. The Rapid Ring system self-adjusts to fit drywall thickness of 1/2” to 1-1/4”, and with the Rapid Ring extender ring, the device will self-adjust to fit wall thickness of up to 2”. By specifying the Rapid Ring system upfront on the electrical installation job, you can “adjust” to virtually any drywall thickness on the jobsite.

Bathroom tile thickness cannot be exact.  Is there a product that easily adjusts to various tile thicknesses?

Yes. The Rapid Ring System works just as well with tile. It will adjust to the various thicknesses, from ½” to 1 ¼” -- and up to 2” with the Rapid Ring extender ring.

During the planning stage, the estimator often has to interpret multiple drywall thicknesses from project plans which can often be difficult to read. Can the Rapid Ring System make this easier?

Yes. The Rapid Ring takes the task of pre-determining drywall thickness out of the equation.

What if I need to change out an assembly after installing the Rapid Ring System?

Once you have installed the Rapid Ring System your assembly will function like a traditional assembly. Just remove the cover plate and replace your device as you normally would.

How much time can I expect to save by using the Rapid Ring System?

The Rapid Ring System installs in as little as 15 seconds, saving a substantial amount of time in the installation process.  To calculate the potential savings on your next electrical installation, use Cooper B-Line’s Rapid Ring Savings Calculator.

How does the Rapid Ring self-adjusting ring cost compare to a traditional mud ring or adjustable ring?

The Rapid Ring System is priced to be a cost-effective solution based on Total Installed Cost. On a Total Installed Cost basis choosing the Rapid Ring System will save time and thus cost on the overall installation process.

Often, the 3-gang and 4-gang boxes with correct ring sizes are not available. What SKUs are available for the Rapid Ring?

The Rapid Ring System is available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang SKUs, all of which will adjust up to 2” drywall and/or tile thicknesses.  You now have one product that will suit varying electrical installation requirements, no matter the wall thickness or gang size.

How do I find a flexible solution that will work in multiple applications and limit my number of SKUs?

Since Rapid Ring self-adjusts to various drywall and tile thickness up to 2”, and is offered in 1, 2, 3 and 4-gang options, this eliminates the need to stock specific mud ring or adjustable ring sizes to accommodate various wall thicknesses.

Do you have a ring that that accommodates 4” box sizes for power and 4 11/16” box sizes for data that will allow installers to use the same installation practice for all applications within a typical room?

The Rapid Ring self-adjusting pre-fab ring offers the most complete offering of any adjustable ring solution on the market today. In addition to offering SKU’s for applications that require boxes ranging from 1-gang through 4-gang, the Rapid Ring System also accommodates both 4” and 4 11/16” box sizes.

Does the Rapid Ring system work with all types of wiring devices?

Yes. The Rapid Ring system will work with many commercially available wiring devices.

Does the Rapid Ring System accommodate different wiring methods?

Yes.  The Rapid Ring System is compatible with ArrowLink™ SPD, WAGO®, pigtails and other wiring methods. The Rapid Ring System is also compatible with both stranded and solid wire.

What if I need to change out an assembly after installing the Rapid Ring System?
